Read your sidewall
What size is it?
The size is moulded into the sidewall. Type it in and this page reads it back, piece by piece.
A car, SUV or van size
Michelin's own guide takes 225/50R17 apart like this:
- "225 = Section width in millimetres (how wide the tire is)"
- "50 = Aspect ratio (sidewall height as a percentage of width)"
- "R = Radial construction"
- "17 = Rim diameter in inches"
A truck or trailer size
Commercial sizes come in metric and in inches. Metric looks like a car size with a bigger rim - 295/75R22.5. Inch sizes look like 11R22.5. On the metric kind: "The second number (e.g., 75) after the slash is the aspect ratio."
A sidewall carries more than the size - load and speed ratings, a build date and more. This page reads the size only. If it cannot read what you typed, send it exactly as printed and it goes on the ticket as is.
